PCCP Prizes Awarded at Bunsentagung 2007

04 June 2007

As part of our promotional activities to highlight the success of the journal, PCCP is presenting a series of prizes at conferences throughout 2007.

Three Poster Prizes were awarded at the recent Bunsentagung Conference.  The Bunsentagung is the prestigious annual meeting of the German Physical Chemistry Society (one of the Owner Socieites of PCCP); the meeting this year was held in attractive location of Graz, Austria.

The winners were selected by a committee which included past and present members of PCCP Boards, and the prizes were awarded by Professor Manfred Martin, a new member of the PCCP Editorial Board.

The standard of entrants was excellent, with the judges having a hard time to select winners. The three researchers they eventually chose were:

  • María Machón (Technical University Berlin) for her research on Carbon Picotubes
  • Thorsten Schilling (Technical Univeristy Darmstadt) for his work on iron-nitrogen containing carbons for electrocatalysis.
  • Jürgen Plenge  (Free University Berlin) for his invesitgations of orbital-dependent stabilization in the ionization of CS2 cluster.

The winners received a PCCP Prize Certificate and a financial reward. Further PCCP Prizes are scheduled to be awarded later on this year.
