10th Anniversary Article: Enhancement of the photocatalytic activity of titania through spatial structuring and particle size control
08 February 2008
PCCP's first 10th Anniversary Article is a Perspective article covering the important topic of photocatalysis. The article was written by Avelino Corma, Hermenegildo Garcia and Carmela Aprile.

Corma's PCCP Perspective article tackles the crucial task of improving the photocatalytic activity of titania. 'In our article we have commented on recent strategies that are based on spatial structuring (rather than chemical doping) of titania to enhance its photoactivity,' explained Corma. 'This Perspective illustrates the potential of combining physical and chemical concepts in developing a material and its spatial arrangement,' he added.
As a member of PCCP's Advisory Board, Corma welcomes the broad outlook of the journal. 'There is a need for a common dissemination medium with readers and contributors from both the physics and chemistry worlds. PCCP can serve those researchers at the border between both communities,' he said.
