Call for papers: Electronic Energy Transfer

04 September 2009

PCCP is delighted to announce a high-profile themed issue on "Electronic Energy Transfer", which will be Guest Edited by Anthony Harriman (University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne) and is scheduled for publication in mid-2010. It is our pleasure to invite you to submit to this themed issue.

Electronic energy transfer (EET) plays one of the key roles in natural photosynthesis, being primarily responsible for ensuring that the reaction centre complex is adequately supplied with photons, and has found numerous important applications in artificial analogues. In fact, EET has been studied for more than five decades, in both natural and artificial systems, but the subject still continues to attract considerable attention. Among the many diverse examples of recent investigations into the rates and mechanisms of EET have been studies carried out with molecular arrays, dendrimers, aggregates, supercritical fluids, nanotubes and ionic liquids. Additional attention has been given to biological samples, including protein matrices, light-harvesting complexes, enzymes and DNA. These examples demonstrate the enormous current relevance of EET in many research areas of interest to the physics and chemistry communities and it is the aim of this themed issue to report on recent developments in both the experimental and theoretical science of this timely field.

We believe such a themed issue is topical and significant, and will make an important and lasting contribution to this exciting area of research.

Deadline for Submission: 15 February 2010

Submissions should be high quality manuscripts of original, unpublished research. Both Communications and Full Papers can be submitted for consideration. All submissions will be subject to rigorous peer review to meet the usual high standards of PCCP.

  • The deadline for submissions to the themed issue is 15 February 2010, though submissions before this date are of course welcomed.
  • All accepted contributions will be published online (in a fully citeable form) as soon as they are ready, and then published together in a single print themed issue in mid-2010.
  • All contributing authors will be sent a free copy of the printed issue.
  • Manuscripts can be easily submitted (in almost any electronic format and reasonable layout), either through the ReSourCe submissions service or as an email attachment to the PCCP Editorial Office. Please indicate on submission that your manuscript is intended for this themed issue.
