Clean synthesis of F-carboxylic esters of sec-alcohols and -haloalkyl alcohols

The addition reactions of F-carboxylic acids to terminal and cyclic olefins and of F-alkanoyl halides to cyclic ethers has been found to be useful for preparing F-carboxylic esters of sec-alcohols and -haloalkyl alcohols, respectively. Both types of reaction can be performed under solvent-free conditions and no accompanying by-products are formed; in some cases a 100% atom efficiency was achieved.
