James Harnly

James Harnly is the Research Leader for the Food Composition Laboratory (FCL) at the Beltsville Human Nutrition Research Center, USDA (Beltsville, MD, USA). His personal research interest is atomic spectrometry (AAS, GF-AAS, ICP-AES, and ICP-MS) and metal speciation in foods (LC-ICP-MS for Fe species). He directs at FCL for the development of analytical methods for nutrients and bioactive compounds in foods. Current projects include flavonoids, phenolic acids, S and Se containing secondary amino acid metabolites, water-soluble vitamins, vitamin D, and metabolite fingerprinting and profiling of foods.
