In this 2nd Young Analytical Scientists issue of JAAS outstanding young researchers from the field of analytical atomic spectrometry are showcased.

The scientists highlighted have shown both insight and direction in their research and have already had an influence on the scientific community. 

The innovative research presented in the issue reflects the wide range of areas covered by atomic spectrometry including application and development of laser ablation ICP-MS, element speciation and the determination of non-metals. A number of the papers reflect the increased interest in bioanalysis. 

Guest Editor Spiros Pergantis' editorial gives a full overview of the issue and for those wishing to find out more about these young, dynamic scientists profiles of all contributors are also included.
