Offering delegates the chance of winning a solar-powered charger for their mobile phone, MP3 player and other mobile devices proved popular at the recent MRS meeting in Boston, USA. 

The lucky winner of the prize draw, selected at random from the entries, was Dr Norman Godfrey. His prize is on its way to him. Congratulations to Norman, and we hope he enjoys saving energy with his new solar powered charger. 

RSC staff at the MRS meeting collected the names of the interested delegates as they signed up for e-alerts to RSC journals - including the newly announced Energy & Environmental Science. With the launch set for summer 2008, visitors to the RSC Publishing stand were keen to find out more about this new interdisciplinary journal. It will publish research relating to energy conversion and storage, alternative fuel technologies, and environmental science.
