OBC poster prize awarded at Chirality at the Nanoscale
02 October 2007
As part of our promotional activities to highlight the success of the journal in its first 5 years of publication, OBC has awarded a poster prize at the recent Chirality at the Nanoscale conference held in Sitges, Spain on 17th-21st September.

Joanne Thomson, assistant editor of OBC, presents Tsuneomi Kawasaki with his poster prize certificate. |
The interdisciplinary conference brought together top international scientists of proven expertise in chirality as well as authorities in nanoscience from around the globe, including OBC Advisory Board member, Ben Feringa. The conference was supported by the CHEXTAN Marie Curie research training network.
The prize winner was selected by a committee which included Alan Rowan from the CHEXTAN committee. The scientific standard of presentations at the conference was excellent, with the judges selecting Dr Tsuneomi Kawasaki as the OBC poster prize winner.

Tsuneomi is from Tokyo University of Science and his prize-winning work was entitled 'Discrimination of Carbon Isotope Chirality by Asymmetric Autocatalysis with Amplification of Enantiomeric Excess.' In his poster, Tsuneomi showed that asymmetric autocatalysis is a powerful method for the discrimination of chirality due only to carbon isotope substitution in organic molecules. As a prize-winner, Tsuneomi receives an OBC prize certificate and one-year print subscription to the journal.
