Dr David Barden

David was born in Rugby, UK, in 1977, and grew up near Tavistock in West Devon. He received his Master of Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge in 1999, specialising in Chemistry, and continued at the same institution for his Ph.D., studying the organic chemistry of silicon under the guidance of Prof. Ian Fleming. Following the submission of his thesis in 2003, he worked at Wiley-VCH (Weinheim, Germany) as an Assistant Editor on EJIC/EJOC for six months, before returning to the UK to start work at the RSC as a Technical Editor in April 2004, mainly on the journals NPR and OBC. Outside work, he enjoys walking, cycling, and carrying out conservation work with the Cambridgeshire Wildlife Trust. He also has a keen interest in botany, and has carried out surveys on rare plants for the local Biological Records Centre, as well as being an active member of the Cambridge Natural History Society.
