Vikki was born and brought up in Cheltenham, before leaving to study at the University of Surrey. After receiving a BSc Hons degree in Chemistry for Europe (which included a placement year in France studying cheese!), she attended The University of Birmingham and received her PhD specialising in self-replication in minimal synthetic systems. After completing her post-doctoral studies with Doug Philp, Vikki spent a year in St Andrews at the Centre for Biomolecular Sciences before joining the RSC as an Assistant Editor on Perkin Transactions in Autumn 2001. Vikki has worked as a science correspondent on Chemistry World as well as OBC's Deputy Editor, before taking up the post of OBC Editor. When Vikki is not at work, she can be found practicing karate which she also teaches to youngsters at a local club. She also enjoys travelling and scuba-diving whenever she gets the chance.
