Semi-hydrogenation of alkynes using phosphinated polymer incarcerated (PI) palladium catalysts

Ryo Nishio, Masaharu Sugiura and Sh Kobayashi

Phosphinated polymer incarcerated (PI) palladium catalysts prepared from a palladium(0) complex and phosphinated styrene-based polymers were found to show good selectivity in semi-hydrogenation of alkynes without strict control of H2 consumption. Moreover, these catalysts could be removed by simple filtration and without any leaching of Pd.
