Heterocycles in organic synthesis. Part 22. The conversion of amines to thiocarbonate esters and thiocyanates

Abstract

Primary amines with 2,4,6-triphenylpyrylium perchlorate give 1-substituted pyridinium perchlorates which with potassium ethyl xanthate readily produce S-alkyl-O-ethyl dithiocarbonates. Primary amines with 2.4,6-triphenylpyrylium thiocyanate form 1-substituted- 2,4,6-triphenylpyridinium thiocyanates which thermolyse smoothly to the corresponding alkyl and aralkyl thiocyanates
