7  Catalytic antibodies

Fujie Tanaka

Reaction-based selections and catalysis-based selections have allowed development of catalytic antibodies with high catalytic activities. Fluorogenic substrates for monitoring bond-forming reactions, which are useful for catalysis-based selections of catalytic antibodies, have been developed recently; substrates for monitoring of cleavage reactions have been employed for some time. Together with dissection of antibody-catalyzed reactions and structures of catalytic antibodies, development of strategies for selection of antibody catalysts with higher catalytic activities should provide desired catalytic antibodies with high catalytic activities.
