ChemComm board members win awards!

11 November 2009

ChemComm's very own Editorial Board Member Andy Evans from Liverpool University, UK, has been awarded the 2009 Pedler Award.

                                               Andrew Evans

Scott Denmark, ChemComm Advisory Board Member, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, US, has been awarded the Robert Robinson Award. Both Andy and Scott were given their awards for their contributions to organic chemistry.

The winners were chosen by the Organic Division Awards Committee, who decided to honour Andy with the Pedler Award for his design of multi-component processes and their application to the stereoselective synthesis of complex natural products.

Scott was rewarded for his pioneering work in the areas of Lewis base catalysed asymmetric processes, cross-coupling reactions based on organosilanols, and tandem cycloadditions using nitroalkenes.

Both Andy and Scott will be presenting their work, alongside another Organic Division Award Winner, Phil Page, at the 'RSC Award Symposium: Catalysis in Synthesis' at Birmingham University this afternoon.

Many congratulations to Andy, Scott and Phil from the ChemComm team!
