Christopher A. Reed
Christopher Reed is Distinguished Professor and Executive Director of the Center for S and P Block Chemistry at the University of California, Riverside. He obtained his PhD at The University of Auckland in New Zealand with Warren R. Roper FRS and did postdoctoral studies with James P. Collman at Stanford University. He was on the faculty of the University of Southern California from 1973 to 1998. His areas of research interest are broadly based, including the bioinorganic chemistry of iron porphyrins, copper and dioxygen, spin coupling phenomena, a magnetochemical alternative to the Spectrochemical Series, fullerene chemistry, metal-organic framework solids, supramolecular interactions, weakly binding ligands, weakly coordinating anions, carboranes, acids, superacids, H-bonding, and reactive cations across the periodic table. His work has been recognized by Sloan, Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar, Guggenheim, Senior von Humboldt, and Tolman Medal Awards. He is a Fellow of the AAAS and the NZIC.
