Professor Daniel Gamelin
Associate Editor
Daniel R. Gamelin received his B.A. in chemistry from Reed College, spent a year as a visiting scientist at the Max-Planck-Institut für Strahlenchemie, and earned his Ph.D. in chemistry from Stanford University working with Edward I. Solomon in the fields of inorganic and bioinorganic spectroscopies. Following a postdoctoral appointment working with Hans U. Güdel (University of Bern) studying luminescent inorganic materials, he joined the chemistry faculty at the University of Washington, Seattle (2000), where he presently holds the Harry and Catherine Jaynne Boand Endowed Professorship in Chemistry. He spent 2007-2008 as a visiting professor at the University of Konstanz and the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). His current research involves the development of new inorganic materials with unusual electronic structures that give rise to desirable photophysical, photochemical, magnetic, or magneto-optical properties.
