Dr David Parker
Technical Editor
David was brought up in Shrewsbury and completed his chemistry BSc at the University of Salford. He then undertook a PhD in mechanistic and structural silicon chemistry with Prof. Alan Bassindale and Dr. Peter Taylor at the Open University (OU). As part of his subsequent postdoctoral work he wrote a series of peer-reviewed journal articles of the group's (and his own) research. Having interests in computational chemistry and information science, he completed an MSc in Chemoinformatics at the University of Sheffield in 2004, spending time during it working for Syngenta. From Sheffield, he moved to Cambridge in February 2005 to join the RSC as a Trainee Technical Editor. In the past he has also worked for Friends Provident, been involved in running OU chemistry summer schools, and worked as a technical writer, web site promoter, software tester, web designer and database developer. In his spare time he is an avid record and CD collector and maintains a large web-based information archive for, and contributed-to by like-minded music lovers worldwide.
