Dr Helen Saxton

Team Leader, Serials Production

Helen originally comes from Leeds and received her MA in chemistry from Oxford University and her PhD in synthetic organic chemistry from the Victoria University of Manchester working with J K Sutherland. She then worked in industry for a time, developing industrial lubricants, before moving to a contract research association where she worked on fungal biosorption of heavy metal ions and conducting polymers. She joined the RSC in 1996 as a Trainee Technical Editor working initially on Perkin 1 and 2, and the organic content of Journal of Materials Chemistry. In 2003 she led the organic production team through the successful merger of the old Perkin journals and the launch of Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry, before moving to lead the General Chemistry production team. Outside work she enjoys genealogy, sailing and spending time with her family.
