Jérôme Lacour

Prof. Jérôme Lacour graduated from the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris and obtained his PhD in Chemistry at the University of Texas in 1993. He studied as a post-doctoral fellow at Harvard University in 1994. He joined in 1995 the Organic Chemistry department of the University of Geneva as a lecturer and in 2001 was promoted to professorial rank - a position financed by the Sandoz Family Foundation. His main research interest is asymmetric (stereoselective) chemistry. His contribution in this field is the development of new, configurationally stable, chiral hexacoordinated phosphorus anions. The TRISPHAT family. These enantiomerically pure anions form tightly associated contact ion pairs with prostereogenic or chiral cations. He has shown these to be efficient resolving agents, effective NMR chiral shift reagents, and helpful chiral auxiliaries.
