Rachel grew up in Scopwick, Lincolnshire, before moving to Manchester to complete an MChem in Chemistry with a year in industry, which included working for a year gaining experience at smale scale, large-scale and high-throughput chemistry in Cornwall. In 2004 Rachel began working towards a PhD in molecular magnetism, working for Professor Richard Winpenny. Rachel moved down to Cambridge to join the ChemComm team in October 2007. In her spare time Rachel enjoys reading and socialising, and she goes running and swimming.
