Varinder Aggarwal
Varinder Aggarwal graduated with B.A. (Hons) from Cambridge in 1980-1983. Also in Cambridge, 1983-1986 he obtained his Ph.D in Organic Chemistry entitled 'Stereocontrolled Synthesis with Phenylthio Migration'. Supervisor: Dr. Stuart Warren. He is currently a Professor in Synthetic Chemistry since September 2000 at the University of Bristol. His research interests include the development of new catalytic processes for asymmetric synthesis. The taming of reactive intermediates (carbenes, carbenoids, radicals, radical cations) and their use and subsequent applications in catalysis and synthesis. The development of new methodology and its applications in synthesis and the total synthesis of biologically important targets.
