Tarragona, by Advisory Board Member, Professor Odile Eisenstein, at the recent WATOC meeting in Sydney, Australia.

The 8th WATOC meeting took place from the 14th - 19th September, and was well attended with approximately 850 participants. Professor Maseras spoke first in the 'use of computations in organometallic chemistry' session, organised by Professor Eisentein, which also featured the vice chair of the meeting. His award lecture entitled, 'The Complex Mechanism of Cross-Coupling Reactions' gave an overview of his research on cross-coupling reactions and how computational methods have been used to understand the several variants such as Suzuki, Miyaua and Hartwig etc. Overall, the presentation was very well received with around 150 to 200 delegates in attendance.

"It has been a great honour to receive this award, and I thank again Chemical Society Reviews for recognizing my research."
- Professor Feliu Maseras
This is the second Chem Soc Rev lecture award to be presented, with Professor Jeff Davis, University of Maryland, receiving the first in 2006 at the Southampton Supramolecular Chemistry meeting.

The aim of the Lecture award is to recognise an individual's innovative contributions to the advancement of knowledge in key areas of the chemical sciences. With an impressive impact factor of 13.08 Chem Soc Rev is ranked #3 (out of 127 journals) in the "Multidiciplinary Chemistry" category (2007 Thomson Scientific (ISI) Journal Citation Reports, released June 2007).

Nominations for the next Chem Soc Rev award will soon be opening. For further details check the journal homepage.
