Dalton Transactions highlights nanomaterials for energy solutions
15 October 2008
Check out Dalton Transactions' theme issue, 'Nanomaterials for alternative energy sources' showcasing the latest developments in the preparation and use of nanomaterials as solutions to the world's current energy challenges. This theme issue is guest edited by Andrew Barron from Rice University, Texas, USA.
As the population of the world is expected to rise nearly 10 billion in 2050, the need for energy is going to greatly increase. Even at present, we have over 2 billion people on the planet with no electricity and only biomass for heating fuel. If we cannot provide for our present global community, how can we expect to provide sufficient energy needs for the future population changes?

This theme issue highlights recent advances in the synthesis and application of inorganic nanomaterials which could be used in the future to solve this global energy problem.
