Janet Scott was born in Durban, South Africa in 1964 and completed a B.Sc. degree at the University of Natal (Durban) in 1985.�After a period as a Research Assistant at the Medical Research Council she obtained her B.Sc.(Hons) degree and Ph.D. at the University of Cape Town under the direction of Profs. Mino R. Caira and Luigi R. Nassimbeni.�From 1992 to 1995 she held the position of lecturer jointly in the Department of Chemistry and the Academic Development Programme at the University of Cape Town and in 1996 moved to Fine Chemicals Corporation (South Africa) as Research and Development Manager before relocating to Australia and Monash University (Melbourne) during 1999 where she held the position of Deputy Director in the Centre for Green Chemistry.Dr Scott is now based in the UK and works for Unilever.
