Professor Poliakoff received his Ph.D from King's College, Cambridge, in 1973.� From 1972 he held the post of Research Officer at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, until his promotion to Senior Research Officer in 1973.� After a holding a tenured position from�1975 until 1979 he was appointed to a Lectureship at the University of Nottingham.Since his appointment at the University of Nottingham, he has held numerous positions in the University's Department of Chemistry.Amongst his accolades are an Honorary Professorship at Moscow State University
