Walter Leitner has been supervisor of the central high pressure and large scale synthesis facilities of the Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung since 1998. In 2000 he was appointed acting director and in 2002 full professor for Technische Chemie und Petrolchemie at the Institut für Technische Chemie und Makromolekulare Chemie at the RWTH Aachen. His interests are: mechanisms and models in homogenous catalysis; oganometallic compounds as selective reagents and catalysts; CO2-activation; catalysis in supercritical CO2
