This represents an increase of 27% on the 2007 figure.

This impact factor re-inforces the leading position of Lab on a Chip as  the No. 1 journal for micro and nanofluidics across the wide variety of disciplines it serves.

Members of the Editorial Board have been expressing their delight at the news which was described as 'impressive' by Professor George Whitesides, Editorial Board Chair. Lab on a Chip has gone from strength to strength and now publishes 24 issues per year and is at the forefront of developments in miniaturization technologies.

A big thank-you to all our authors, referees and readers for their continued support for the journal and in helping us to achieve this impressive result.

The impact factor is a measure of the number of times an "average article" in a journal has been cited in the previous two years. Therefore, this 2008 IF is based on 2008 citations to papers published in 2006 and 2007.
