Lab on a Chip

Miniaturisation for chemistry, physics, biology and bioengineering

Emerging Investigators Call for Papers

14 December 2009

The peer-reviewed journal Lab on a Chip is launching a special issue reporting advances made by new investigators, scheduled for publication in the fall of 2010. The special Emerging Investigators themed issue will focus on technical contributions made by investigators who started their independent positions in between 2003 and 2007.

Through this Emerging Investigators special issue, Lab Chip aims to give wide-spread exposure to current advances from new investigators and stimulate further progress in the field based on these new advances.

A call for papers for the special issue has been announced, the deadline for submissions is March 31st 2010. The publication date of the special issue is tentatively scheduled to coincide with mTAS 2010, ensuring wide exposure of its contents.

Lab Chip plans to include 15-20 technical articles by Emerging Investigators from around the world.  According to   guest editors Aaron Wheeler and Amy Herr, there is   a strong, unmet need for a compilation of high-quality articles that examine and report on new advances from rising leaders in microfluidic & nanofluidic technology innovation for chemistry, physics, biology, and bioengineering. Therefore, this proposal from the Editor to put together a special Emerging Investigators theme issue should have a significant impact on the field. The issue will be purposefully broad and interdisciplinary but will, of course,   adhere to the usual high peer-review standards we have come to expect from the Lab on a Chip journal.
