Jakob Wirz is professor emeritus from the Department of Chemistry at the University of Basel. His research centers on kinetic studies of reactive intermediates formed by flash photolysis, in particular biradicals and enols, and on the release rates of photochemical protecting groups. He is coauthor of a recent textbook entitled "Photochemistry of Organic Compounds - From Concepts to Practice".
