2.1 - Saving an image in PDF format


This is the prefered output format when using KaleidaGraph. To make sure your image is saved in an RSC-compatible format, perform the following steps:

  1. Once the illustration is finalised, print your image out as a final size and quality check.
  2. Download and install the RSC ".joboptions" file for Acrobat Distiller (see the "Templates" page for details).
  3. From the "File" menu in KaleidaGraph, select "Print". In the "Print" dialogue box that appears, select "Acrobat Distiller" as the printer (see below).

  4. Click on the "Adobe PDF Settings" tab. In the "Conversion Settings:" pull-down menu select "RSC" (if this is not an option, then the RSC ".joboptions" file is not installed properly) and make sure the "Do not send fonts to Distiller" option is not ticked (see below). Click on "Print".

  5.  The "Save PDF file as" dialogue box will appear. Choose an appropriate file name (e.g. figure1.pdf) and location, then click "Save".
