Integrative Biology perspective articles can vary widely in content, from a philosophical look at a topic of relevance to articles describing case studies, methods or subject updates:

  • if a methodology is described it must be new and relevant to the scope of the journal, and the advantages of the reported work must be clearly presented by comparison with established techniques
  • if an update on a developing area of research is presented, the significance of the developments should be emphasized and challenges for future work identified
  • if case studies are reported, clear evidence should be provided enabling hypotheses and demonstrable gains in knowledge through application of innovative experimental measurement, computation and statistics
