The Environment, Sustainability and Energy Division Early Career Award is for exceptional contributions to the chemical sciences in the area of environment, sustainability and energy.

Rules and Criteria


  • Run biennially
  • Candidates will ordinarily be eligible up to the tenth anniversary of the award of their PhD degree, and assessment will be based on work published during that time. (Candidates without a PhD must be 35 or below on the closing date.)  Appropriate consideration will be given to those who have taken career breaks or followed different study paths
  • Name and contact details of two referees required who will be contacted by the RSC - these may not include the candidate's post-doc or PhD supervisor
  • Candidates are NOT permitted to nominate themselves
  • One page CV for the candidate which should include their date of birth, website URL, summary of education and career, a list of 5 relevant publications, total numbers of publications and patents
  • A one page supporting statement addressing the selection criteria
  • Nominations open 1 September 2012 
  • Nominations close 15 January 2013 
  • Award winner will be chosen by the Environment, Sustainability and Energy Forum Awards Committee
  • Award winner receives £2000, a medal and a certificate    

About the award


The RSC Environment, Sustainability and Energy Forum Early Career Award was established in 2008. 

Please note that this award was advertised as the Environment, Sustainability and Energy Forum Young Researcher Award.
