Overseas Conference Travel Grants Rules

These grants are designed to assist post-graduate students (PhD or MSc) at UK or Irish higher education institutions who are engaged in research projects related to analytical chemistry to attend and to participate actively in overseas (outside the UK and Ireland) conferences whose content is primarily analytical. 

A grant will not normally exceed £500. It is also expected that normally the bursary will not constitute more than 50% of the registration, travel and subsistence costs of attending the conference. 

Students who have received a bursary under this scheme will not be eligible to apply again.

1. Applicants must be members of the Analytical Division of the Royal Society of Chemistry. 
    
2. Applicants must be registered for a post-graduate degree by research at a UK or Irish higher education institution.
    
3. There are no restrictions on nationality.
    
4. There is no restriction on age.
    
5. Applicants must demonstrate that at least 50% of the registration, travel and subsistence costs will be met from other sources.
    
6. Applicants must be largely resident in the UK or Ireland during the period of their studentship.
   
7. The programme of the conference must be largely analytical relating to chemical science in character. The conference programme must accompany an application or a reference given to its web site.
    
8. Preference will be given to applicants who will be presenting an oral paper or a poster or otherwise actively participating in the conference to which the application relates.
    
9. If a grant is awarded, a cheque for not more than £500 payable to the applicant's university will be sent to the applicant at their university address.
    
10. The decision of the Trustees of the Analytical Chemistry Trust Fund is final.
