Research Councils' Graduate Schools

The RSC is convinced that postgraduate students need to take all opportunities available to help to broaden their experience beyond their direct PhD training so as to be better prepared for employment. In recent years it has become very obvious that the Research Councils' Graduate Schools provide excellent training and have been very much appreciated by all those who attended.

For students financed through the Research Councils funding to attend the schools (currently £500 plus VAT for the week-long course) is provided by the Research Councils. Unfortunately postgraduate students may not have access to the fees if their grants are not from the Research Councils or some other group that makes such fees available.

In an attempt to promote access to the courses the RSC has decided that the income from a recent bequest from Mrs Colman Porter in memory of her husband should be used initially for a three-year period to provide funds.
