Direct Assistance by the RSC

The RSC provides direct assistance to MPs (including all Link MPs) whenever the occasion arises. This can include:

• background briefs for Ministerial Statements of general debates in the Commons on scientific issues;
• briefings for use in the Committee or report stages of legislation;
• personal assistance for Parliamentary Questions and Adjournment debates; and
• for constituency purposes.  

House of Lords

Although the RSC does not maintain exactly the same kind of formal links with Peers as with MPs, the RSC seeks to provide exactly the same level of service. The RSC also works with selected Peers (from all parties and from none) on specific occasions and is keeping a close watch on developments in the House of Lords reform.
