Science & the Assembly 2008

The Royal Society of Chemistry's annual Science and the Assembly took place on Tuesday 20 May 2008 at the Wales Millennium Centre and the Senedd, Cardiff Bay.

Sponsored by on a quadripartitie basis by Gareth Jones AM, Huw Lewis AM; David Melding AM and Kirsty Williams AM

Green Chemistry and the Environment was this year's theme, with a keynote speech from the Environment Minister, Jane Davidson AM.

Organised in cooperation with:

  • Biosciences Federation
  • Campaign for Science & Engineering
  • Institute of Biology
  • Institute of Physics and the Science Council 

This event is designed to develop closer links between the scientific community in Wales and the Welsh Assembly.

Following the same format as last year with Scientific Presentations in the Millennium Centre followed by an exhibition and buffet reception with Assembly members in the Senedd. 

Dr Richard Pike said " It is very heartening for us scientists to see that science is regarded as so important by all the major parties here in Wales. For our part, as the RSC, we are also pledged to help the Assembly directly." 

Science and the Assembly 2009 will be held on Tuesday 5 May.
