Voice of the Future

Voice of the Future took place on Tuesday 10 March 2009 during National Science and Engineering Week in the Attlee Suite, Portcullis House, Westminster

Organized by the Royal Society of Chemistry [RSC] on behalf of the whole science and engineering community with the aim of strengthening links between scientists, Parliament and Government.

Over 200 young scientist descended upon Parliament to let their voices be heard during a Science Question Time with the Select Committee on Innovation, Universities, Science & Skills. Chairman Phil Willis MP opened a dialogue between the next generation of talented scientists and Members of the Select Committee. Subjects raised included Standards of Education, Research, Funding & Brain Drain to name but a few. 

Delegates were also given the opportunity to Question the Science Minister Lord Drayson as well as the Shadow Minister for Innovation, Universities and Skills Adam Afriyie MP.

This event brought together over 150 younger scientists and engineers in the early stages of their career, from all the UK's major science disciplines. The audience also comprised 6th Form science students from  secondary schools in and around London who are contemplating careers in science.
