Chief Scientific Adviser for Wales
31 January 2008
The Royal Society of Chemistry and the wider scientific community have achieved a considerable success with final official confirmation that we now have a Chief Scientific Adviser for Wales. This is something the Society has campaigned for and today's news finally confirms our collective success.
Today's meeting of the Welsh Assembly Petitions Committee considered Petition P-03-075: Royal Society of Chemistry. In addition to our original Petition following last year's Resolution passed unanimously at the Science and the Assembly event, the Committee considered further representations made by the Society and a written response by the First Minister.
The Committee received confirmation that Professor Pollock is indeed the Chief Scientific Adviser as stated in the First Minister's response to the Committee.
The RSC welcomes today's news and we will be seeking to work with him in the years ahead.
