Scottish based Parliamentary Liaison Officer Appointed

The Royal Society of Chemistry and Royal Society of Edinburgh have jointly appointed their first Scottish based Parliamentary Liaison Officer; Bristow Muldoon.   This post has been created to make it easier for MSPs and Researchers of all parties to tap into the wide-ranging knowledge and expertise both organisations offer. 

Chief Executive of The Royal Society of Chemistry, Dr Richard Pike commented:

Scotlandhas a long history of producing talented scientists and engineers and fro many pioneering developments in science and technology that have spawned world class industries and helped to improve the health and quality of life for many.   The chemistry community in Scotland is a key and productive part of this national science landscape and over many years has been well-served by having, located in Edinburgh, and expert communicator working on behalf of the RSC to address the changing issues that affect Scotland.

I am delighted that through our partnership with the Royals Society of Edinburgh we have been able to appoint Bristow Muldoon to help ensure that the work of the MSPs can be supported through access to key members of the scientific community.

Bristow Muldoon - Biographical Details

Education:  Cumbernauld High School; University of Strathclyde; B.Sc (Hons) Chemistry; The Open University B.A. (Hons)

Employment:  1986 Management positions with British Rail then GNER; 1994-1999 Local Authority Councillor; Chair West Lothian Council Committee with responsibility for Housing, Social Work and Health; Non Executive Director, West-Lothian NHS Trust; Unpaid Non-Executive Director SSERC, educational charity involved in science equipment for schools Scottish Executive Education Department project member, including work on the continuous professional development of science teachers and technicians; 1999-2007  Scottish Labour Party MSP for Livingston; Chair, Scottish Policy Forum of the Labour Party.
