Effective consultation
18 September 2007
The Cabinet Office has consulted on the effectiveness of the Government's Code of Practice for consultations. Key questions relate to whether the Code has improved the consultation process, is 12 weeks a suitable minimum consultation period, and is consultation fatigue becoming a problem?
The RSC has welcomed the opportunity to respond to this consultation but has raised concerns on the availability of in-house expertise in Government Departments, communication and coordination between Departments, and poorly focused consultations.
