RSC submission to STFC Consultation on Advisory Panels
14 October 2011
The Council of the Science and Technology Facilities Councils have agreed to merge Committees for Particle Physics, Astronomy and Nuclear Physics (PPAN) and the Physical and Life Sciences (PALS) into a single advisory board. Council requested views relating to the future structure of subject-specific Advisory Panels that report through PPAN and PALS; with a view to possibly reducing the number of panels so as to streamline advice while reducing the cost of operating the system.
The Royal Society of Chemistry submission focussed on the Advisory Panels for Facilities section of the consultation, in particular addressing 2c. Whether there is still a need for the Photon and Neutron Advisory Panels.
