Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC)

This Note outlines the principles of the 'Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control' (IPPC) which are now incorporated into the Environmental Permitting Regulations in England and Wales. 

IPPC aims to prevent, or where this is not practicable, to reduce emissions from industrial activities, including elimination or reduction of waste, to protect the environment as a whole. 

This integrated approach is carried through from the initial permitting of the installation to restoration of sites when industrial activities cease.
