RSC response to recent Ofsted Consultation
09 August 2010
Following Ofsted survey visits subject feedback letters that are sent to the school normally contain separate judgements on:
- achievement
- quality of teaching
- quality of the curriculum
- effectiveness of leadership and management
- overall effectiveness in the subject.
In coming to these judgements, Ofsted inspectors use criteria and grade descriptors from their 2009 Section 5 evaluation schedule, as they can be applied to individual subjects. Alongside the grade descriptors Ofsted are developing supplementary, subject-specific descriptors which provide additional guidance for each of the 15 subjects in the survey programme. Ofsted welcomed comments on the draft supplementary subject-specific guidance.
The RSC is a SCORE (Science Community Partnership Supporting Education) partner. The RSC contributed to the development of the SCORE response and submitted additional comments. You can download the RSC response from this page which contains the SCORE response attached as an appendix.
