Looking Back
What would you have done differently?
I would have secured senior and experienced leadership resources faster. Key people are critical to success where excellence in competence and leadership are the most crucial.
What has been your biggest disappointment?
Some of the appointments we have made were ill judged and our selection processes must be improved.
In the time since you started up, what do you think you have learned about running a business and about yourself?
As a very late on-set entrepreneur a lot of the lessons I have learnt occurred before I branched out. Understanding and facing up to your own weaknesses is probably one of the most important lessons I have learnt coupled with the criticality in finding the right people to drive the business forward as quickly as possible.
What's the single most important thing that helped your business succeed?
An effective global network of contacts, customers and supporters.
What does the future hold for Ian and Excelsyn?
