Launch of Chemistry for Tomorrow's World
21 October 2009
In October, the Royal Society of Chemistry hosted a launch event in London for its roadmap for the chemical sciences - Chemistry for Tomorrow's World.
The associated report was published in July of this year. It summarises the outcome of consultations with the scientific community and describes the key challenges of immediate concern, identifying priority areas and opportunities for the chemical sciences.
The newly refurbished Chemistry Centre at Burlington House was full to capacity for the event, which was attended by a diverse range of people with expertise across many scientific disciplines.
Phil Willis MP, Chair of the newly-formed House of Commons Science and Technology Select Committee, was a guest speaker. , Willis shared his concern for the future and reinforced the need for the chemical sciences to tackle the challenges caused by climate change and over-population.
