BASF buys Becker Underwood for $1bn

BASF has announced a deal to buy US agrichemical company Becker Underwood for $1 billion (£610 million).
Becker makes products for seed treatment (including colours and polymers), pest control, turf, horticulture, animal nutrition and landscaping. It has 10 production sites and 479 employees.
BASF says that Becker is on course to make $240 million in sales in 2012. Since 2004, the company has been owned by investment firm Norwest Equity Partners.
