modern Stonehenge
The modern Stonehenge - a colourised scanning electron microscope (SEM) image of silicon nanopillar formation created by gallium implantation and deep reactive ion etching (DRIE). This image, created by Nikolai Chekurov, department of micro- and nanotechnology, Helsinki University of Technology, Finland, was a winning entry in the Material Research Society Spring 2009 'Science as Art' competition.
