Conference: ChemCareers 2010
You can attend ChemCareers from the comfort of your own home, office or lab. The event might be virtual, but the benefits are very real
The ChemCareers virtual fair is for anyone studying or working in the chemical sciences at any stage of their career.
Something for everyone
ChemCareers will highlight the breadth of career opportunities in academia, industry and other sectors. The event will be of particular relevance for:
- Students looking for their first job
- Graduates and postgraduates exploring their career options
- Mid-career RSC members looking for a change of direction
- RSC members who may have been made redundant
Featuring information about employers, interactive media, presentations and webinars, delegates will be able to:
- Discover the huge range of career opportunities available for chemical scientists
- Learn how to market themselves to employers in job applications and interviews
- Seek expert advice on career planning and making their next career move
- Investigate further study options
- Network globally with employers and chemical scientists
A wide range of topics will be covered throughout the week and information will be delivered in several different formats. Webinars will be used to inform delegates how to network, use recruitment agencies, survive interviews and explore the possibilities of workingabroad.
Presentations will be available which focus on CV advice, job searching strategies, options with chemistry and what to do beyond PhD/PostDoc research.
1:1 careers advice
Live chat will offer delegates the opportunity to benefit from 1:1 careers advice provided by a range of experts including representatives from UK and international companies, careers advisors, HR specialists and chartered chemists. (1:1 careers advice will only be open to members of the RSC).
A library of video careers profiles will be available to delegates illustrating the wide variety of jobs in the chemical sciences. These will focus on individuals based in different companies, sectors and countries - find out what it's like to work at Astra Zeneca, at GSK, as a teacher in Thailand, or as an MP.
MyRSC is your RSC
Delegates will be able to upload their CV to MyRSC and, if they are members of the RSC, can also participate in a competition to produce the best 60 second video pitch to prospective employers.
ChemCareers 2010 will be live from 15-19 November. Delegates must register with MyRSC to access the event.
