Chlorophyll is isolated by Pierre Joseph Pelletier who pioneered the use of mild solvents to successfully isolate many important biologically active plant products. Working with Bienaimé Caventou he discovered chlorophyll, caffeine, strychnine, colchicine, quinine and veratrine.
