Thomas Edison demonstrates the first high resistance, incandescent electric light, by passing electricity through a thin platinum filament in a glass vacuum bulb, which delayed the filament from melting. Contrary to popular belief Edison did not "invent" the lightbulb but successfully developed earlier research.
